This was really happening. I was really going to do a TedxTalk. I was terrified. Can you guess what I did? I journaled. I journaled…a lot. In fact, I’ve almost filled up my journal pouring out all my anxiety onto the paper.

The pages of a journal will always listen…

The Paper Thoughts Program works to help kids find their voice on paper; providing them with the tools to express themselves in a way that is safe, effective, and healing. We collect journals, notebooks, and sketchbooks as well as donations to purchase these items to distribute to kids who might not otherwise have access to them. Included with each journal are resources on how to use it to optimize personal growth, and self expression as well as places for kids to reach out to if they are struggling.

Its more than just a notebook…

Anyone who has journaled or sketched knows how good it feels to pick out a beautiful journal that really speaks to them. To be able to fill the pages of a beautiful notebook with your thoughts and feelings through words and art is an experience everyone should have regardless of economic status. With Paper Thoughts, kids get to pick out a new journal, to take time to choose one that fits their personality, that allows them to dream of their future, that expresses who they really are…Paper Thoughts allows kids to experience every aspect of the magic of journaling!

Meeting kids where they’re at…

It takes way more than just handing a kid a journal or sketchbook to get them to use it in a way that is effective and healing. So we’ve developed resources to go along with the journals and strategies to address barriers that might come up for kids when journaling. We’ve got an Instagram  page geared towards getting kids to journal and will soon have a Youtube Channel for kids as well! Follow our blog for updates!
